Benno Glauser

Benno Glauser, born in Switzerland, graduated in History and Philosophy of Science at the Universities of Fribourg (CH) and Cambridge (U.K.). He lives in Latin America since 1974. After working in several countries with political prisoners in the context of dictatorial governments and repression, from 1977 on he settled in Paraguay and has directed his work since then to social minorities and marginalized, voiceless and ‘invisible’ social groups, combining grass root level work with grass root social research.

In 2002 he was a co- founder of Iniciativa Amotocodie, an NGO concerned with monitoring and protecting isolated indigenous groups in the Northern Paraguayan Chaco.

Benno Glauser is a teacher of Cultural and Social Anthropology and Philosophy, at university level, in Paraguay and in Europe, and he is the author of books and articles on social research and on topics related to his social work.
